1. The short version

NetVow (“we”, “us”) helps you keep promises about your screen. To do that it needs to know your blocks and tasks, not your browsing. We never collect, store or sell your browsing history.

2. App and site detection stays on your device

While a task timer is running, the NetVow app checks which app is in front and, for supported browsers (Safari, Chrome, Arc, Edge, Brave), which site is open. It uses this only to send stay-on-task nudges.

  • This happens on your computer only, and only while a task timer runs.
  • The app or site you were on is never stored and never sent to our servers.
  • What we do keep is a count of drift nudges per focus session, so you can see your own progress.
  • Nudges pause during screen sharing, calls and presentations.

3. What stays on your computer

NetVow works without an account. Your blocks, schedules, sites blocked forever, tasks, alarms and settings are saved on your computer. Blocking happens through your computer’s hosts file, so we never see the sites you visit or try to visit.

4. What we store if you sign in

If you create an account to sync devices or go Pro, we store:

  • Account: email, name, and a securely hashed password (or your Google sign-in).
  • Plan and billing status.
  • Schedules, quick blocks, sites blocked forever and your requests to remove them, so they apply on all your devices.
  • Your task list, alarms, day plans and focus sessions (with drift counts, not the apps or sites).
  • Your balance and its history: top-ups and blocks you ended early.
  • The reasons you write when you end a block early or ask to remove a site.
  • Devices: name, platform, app version, last check-in and whether protection is working.
  • Routine summaries (for example, the block times you usually keep) over a rolling 90-day window, so NetVow can suggest “your usual”. You can reset these at any time.

5. What we never collect

  • Browsing history, page content or search queries.
  • DNS queries or network traffic.
  • Which blocked sites you tried to open.
  • Card numbers. Payments are handled by Polar.

6. Payments

Pro plans and balance top-ups are sold on the web through Polar, which processes your payment, including the card you add to try Pro for 2 weeks. We receive the purchase details we need (what you bought, when, and the amount), never your card details.

7. Analytics

We count product events such as “block started”, “task completed” or “nudge shown” to improve NetVow. These never include browsing data, task names or journal text.

8. Your choices

  • Use NetVow without an account; nothing leaves your computer except update checks and downloads of the adult-site list.
  • Turn off app detection, check-ins and drift nudges in the app’s settings.
  • Download or delete all your data, or reset what NetVow learned, by emailing us.
  • Deleting your account removes your data within 30 days. An unspent balance is lost on deletion, so ask for a refund first if your top-up is within the 14-day refund window.

9. Children

NetVow is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

10. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell signed-in users about material changes by email.
